Another SwiftBoating
Breitbart, O'Keefe and the rest of these amoral right-wing creeps need to be exposed for what they are. The fact that mainstream media--from AP to the Commercial Appeal to cable news--continue to give them a free pass to SwiftBoat whomever they want is sad indeed.

Church Ousts Gay Softball Coach
Memphis' Bellevue Baptist Church is right that the Bible condemns homosexuality.
But what do you expect from an antiquated book written by small-minded men who were afraid of the dark, the thunder, and one another? The Bible also sanctions slavery, torture, infanticide and various other forms of butchery and inhumanity.
Members of the GLBT community ought to take that injunction as a badge of honor.

Arlington Mayor Russell Wiseman is either an idiot or a fraud. In any case, he's no Christian. He bears false witness against others (Obama) and demonstrates the self-righteousness of a pharisee. (Yes, Russ, you win the Jesus-mentioning contest, but I'm not aware that that gets you into heaven.) The most disturbing part of the story is that Wiseman would rather watch a TV cartoon than a major speech about the war in Afghanistan. Is this the thinking of a serious and responsible public servant, especially when American troops are complaining that they've been forgotten by the public? Maybe Wiseman would be better off out of office and in a children's nursery.

Yahoo and ATT should be ashamed--and if that doesn't work, BOYCOTTED--for putting more of that discredited "birther" nonsense about President Obama on their Website homepage.
Enough is enough! That's bull, so stop peddling it. Whether you're refuting it or not, it's a disservice to draw attention to it at all. Is there no journalist, or at least a person with brains, at either of these companies?

Literally Anti-Christ?

Compare the courageous souls willing to sacrifice as they remake their neighborhoods (actual Christians). . . with the perverted version (pharisees) depicted in this New York Times story about a Kentucky preacher.
This supposed "minister" invites parishioners to bring guns to church because, as he says, "Not every Christian denomination is pacifist." Huh?! How can someone striving to be like Jesus not be a pacifist? Jesus wasn't a gunslinger or a kung fu artist. He believed in turning the other cheek, in loving your neighbor, etc.
WWJD? People Who Know the Answer
When you start feeling skeptical about Christianity, you occasionally read stories like the following from the Commercial Appeal, which restores your faith in the ability of people to actually walk the walk. These are the genuine article: people who emulate Jesus of Nazareth--not the sanctimonious pharisees at the mega-church in the suburbs.

You Remember Sanford, Don't You?

Forget who Mark Sanford is? Well, in addition to aggravating his home state by turning down stimulus money until being forced by the courts, he once brought a couple of pigs inside the legislature.
And, oh yeah, there was that dreadful interview he did with CNN's Wolf Blitzer last year, when he could not answer a simple question about the differences between Bush's economic policies and McCain's, even after just insisting that there were. Kudos to Blitzer for pressing him on the issue.
